The United States and Saudi Arabia have condoled with Nigeria over the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo state on Monday, killing all the 2o personnel and five crew members on board.
The aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin City to Lagos when it crashed in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje LGA.
Ehimen Ejodame, director of public relations and information at NAF, said the aircraft had 20 personnel and five crew members. No survivors were found.
He added that Kelvin Aneke, the chief of air staff, had directed a comprehensive investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident.
In a statement on Tuesday, the US mission in Nigeria condoled with the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased NAF personnel.
“We stand with the people of Nigeria and remain committed to our strong security partnership,” the statement reads.
In a separate statement, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also expressed its sympathies to Nigeria over the accident.
“The Kingdom expresses its solidarity with the families of the deceased and with the Government and people of Nigeria in this grave tragedy and wishes continued safety and security for Nigeria and its brotherly people,” the statement reads.
President Bola Tinubu had declared three days of national mourning for personnel who died in the crash.
